Dragon Tera Type Dialga and Palkia The Pokémon of Myth from the Sinnoh region, Dialga and Palkia, are making their first appearance in a 5-star Tera Raid Battle event in Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet starting December 7th, at 4:00pm (PST) / December 8th at Midnight (UTC), and running through until December 21st at 3:59pm (PST) / 11:59pm (UTC).

The Dialga and Palkia from this event have the Dragon Tera Type, and can only be caught once per save data. Dialga will appear exclusively for players of Pokémon Scarlet, while Palkia will appear in Pokémon Violet. Players will be able to participate in Tera Raid Battles for both Pokémon by joining Tera Raid Battles hosted by Trainers with the other game version.

Neither of these Legendary Pokémon can normally be encountered in Paldea, but they may appear again in other events or be encountered in different ways in the future, such as through the new feature involving snacks from the character Snacksworth in the The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero Part 2: The Indigo Disk, which was previewed in the new trailer released earlier today.

To encounter Dialga and Palkia in Tera Raid Battles, players will need to first download the latest Poké Portal News. If players have connected their Nintendo Switch system to the internet while playing Pokémon Scarlet or Violet, this will happen automatically. Players can also manually download the Poké Portal News by selecting Poké Portal from the X menu, and then selecting Mystery Gift, and then Check Poké Portal News. After that, players will be able to start a Tera Raid Battle simply by walking up to and interacting with an appropriate Tera Crystal in-game. In the overworld, the Tera Crystals associated with these raids can be differentiated from other Tera Raid crystals by their aura, which is mostly clearly visible when looking at crystals on the map.

A paid Nintendo Switch Online membership is required to participate in Tera Raid Battles with other Trainers online, however players will still be able to challenge these Tera Raid Battles solo (supported by AI), or with other Trainers in local play without a membership.
